Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT), the non-profit 501c3 organization located at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in Gettysburg, PA, is now in its 18th Season and will present its production of We The People the musical 7pm Fridays and 2pm Saturdays and Sundays February 20-March 8, 2026.
We The People the musical is an official event of the America 250 Celebration, and the cast is made up entirely of retired and semi-retired actors who will hold their scripts on stage during the show, as most senior theatres around the country do in order to make performing in community theatre even more accessible to all ages and abilities. There is no better way to celebrate America than with beautiful, patriotic music — from America’s favorite anthems to poignant and uplifting original compositions. This patriotic tableau begins as a committee discusses putting on a patriotic show for their town and discusses what America means to them. We The People the musical serves as a fine reminder that the remarkable words written by our forefathers centuries ago are still a living document and part of our lives each and every day.
This production is made possible, in part, by a Star Grant from the Adams County Arts Council. The Star Grant is funded in part by the Adams County Commissioners, the Borough of Gettysburg, and the Robert C Hoffman Endowment Trust. The cast includes: Jill Work from Fayetteville, Stephanie Roelker from York Springs, Juice Thomasson, Holly Fox, Buff Wills, James L. O’Dell Jr, Bryan Cooley, Sharon Cooley, Jim Derby, and Brenda Walter from Gettysburg, Barbara Semiatin from Fairfield. The production is under the direction of Stephanie Roelker and Buff Wills, with vocal music direction by Barbara Semiatin, props coordinated by Vanessa Rice, and technical direction by Michael Connelly.
“When first reading the script, we knew immediately it would be perfect for the Senior actors at GCT”, says the production co-director, Stephanie Roelker. “The music is uplifting and the scenes are moving, funny and very effective in explaining the Preamble of the Constitution. It has been a pleasure working with this group. Theatre keeps a person young at heart.”
