The PEOPLE Project Returns with Call for Artists

The PEOPLE Project will return this fall as part of Adams County’s America250PA celebration with a new presenting partnership between ChrysaLis Communications and Celebrate Gettysburg magazine.

The 2026 theme, “Crossroads & Generations,” invites participants to explore the relationships, decisions, and experiences that shape individuals and communities across time through storytelling, visual art, music, and conversation. Organizers say the project encourages participants to reflect on the personal moments and connections that define generations and strengthen communities.

The signature storytelling event will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. in Cinema One at the Majestic Theater. The evening will feature stories from Garry Adelman, Matt Callery, Judy Morley, Will Morris V, Debra Sandoe McCauslin, Bob Prosperi, Julie Aha, Caroline Monahan, and Sarah Jacobs, along with musical performances by members of the Gettysburg Community Theater/Studio of Carrie Conklin, Chuck Darwin and the Knuckledraggers, and Honey on the Rocks.

As part of the project, local visual artists are invited to submit original work inspired by the theme for a month-long exhibition at Waldo’s & Company. The exhibit will open during Gettysburg’s First Friday celebration on Nov. 6 and will showcase a variety of artistic interpretations of the theme.

Artists working in any visual medium are encouraged to participate. To be considered, submissions should include a commitment to participate, a photograph of the artwork, a brief artist statement describing its connection to the theme, dimensions and medium, a headshot, and a short artist biography. Materials should be submitted to Lisa Cordiano by Aug. 28. Artwork will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as gallery space allows, with additional artists featured in the project’s printed program and video presentation.

Community partners include the Adams County Arts Council, Community Media of South Central PA, Waldo’s & Company, and the Gettysburg Community Theater.

For more information or to participate, contact Lisa Cordiano at (301) 646-0214 or lisac@chrysalis-arts.com.
