I was notified by Colonel Means of Towanda this morning..I was to report to his office as soon as possible and be sworn in as Captain of the newly formed Emergency Regiment. I am now Captain of the 13th Pennsylvania Emergency Regiment. I am in charge of Company G, and have been ordered to assemble all men from Orwell and Herrick Townships and they are to report to the general training camp at East Orwell.. All men must report here to me no later than 12:00 noon on the 11th. According to Colonel Means the men will be sworn in at Towanda prior to boarding the train to Harrisburg..The majority of the men assembled here so far are very ready to have their chance at the Rebs and to protect the Commonwealth and to protect the Union…. I must now get some rest… End of entry..Captain Steven Gorham Company G 13th Pa. Emergency Regiment
