2022 Adams County Primary and General Election

The next Adams County election is the primary to be held on May 17, 2022.

The polls will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

On the ballot will be choices for

  • U.S. Senator
  • Representative in Congress from the 13th District
  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Representative in the General Assembly from the 91st district
  • Representative in the General Assembly from the 193rd district
  • Member of Democratic State Committee
  • Member of Republican State Committee
  • Democratic Committee Member

Separate ballots are prepared for registered Democratic and Republican voters.

The Adams County Elections Office said mail-in ballots would likely be sent out this week for those who have requested them and that mail-in ballots can be requested until May 10.

Mail-in ballots can be mailed or dropped off in the elections office on the first floor of the county courthouse at the corner of Baltimore and Middle Streets in Gettysburg. The office said the drop off box in the courthouse lobby would be available but no date was given for its availability.

Important dates for the primary election:

May 2: Last day to register before the November election

May 10: Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot

May 17: Last day to receive mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8:00 p.m.)

Mail-in ballot tips

Mail-in ballots may be returned using the drop box at the county courthouse between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The dropoff box at the courthouse is on the first floor just inside the door.

The courthouse is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The courthouse will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on election day.

If you need any help completing your mail-in ballot, call the elections office at 717.337.9832 and they will help.

If you cannot get to the drop box, call the elections office. They will come out to pick up your ballot if you pull over in front of the courthouse.
