2024 Adams County Elections

The 2024 General Presidential Election will be held on Nov. 5, 2024.

  • Last day to register to vote in the November election, October 21 
  • Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot, October 29 
  • Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8:00 P.M.), November 5 
  • Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted military and overseas absentee ballots (submitted for delivery no later than 11 :59 P.M. on November 4) November 12 
  • Note: All dates in this calendar are subject to change without notice.

Mail-in ballots can be mailed or dropped off in the elections office on the first floor of the county courthouse at the corner of Baltimore and Middle Streets in Gettysburg. The office said the drop off box in the courthouse lobby would be available but no date was given for its availability.

Mail-in ballot tips

Mail-in ballots may be returned using the drop box at the county courthouse between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The dropoff box at the courthouse is on the first floor just inside the door.

The courthouse is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The courthouse will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on election day.

If you need any help completing your mail-in ballot, call the elections office at 717.337.9832 and they will help.

If you cannot get to the drop box, call the elections office. They will come out to pick up your ballot if you pull over in front of the courthouse.

On the ballot will be: President and Vice President; U.S. Senator; Attorney General; Auditor General; State Treasurer; Representatives and Senators in the State General Assembly.

PRIOR ELECTIONS

The 2024 Pennsylvania Presidential Primary Election was held on Apr. 23, 2024.

On the primary ballot were the races in the Presidential Election as well as Democratic and Republican candidates and alternates for the party conventions.

Mail-in ballots will be mailed by early October.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2024 PA STATE ELECTION CYCLE

  • First day to circulate and file nomination petitions, January 23 
  • Last day to circulate and file nomination petition, February 13 
  • First day to circulate and file nomination papers, February 14 
  • Last day to file objections to nomination papers, Febuary 20
  • Ballot lottery, February 21 
  • Last day for withdrawal by candidates who filed nomination petitions, February 28 
  • Last day to REGISTER to vote in the primary, April 8 
  • Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot, April 16 
  • Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8:00 P.M.), April 23 

GENERAL PRIMARY, April 23 

  • Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted military and overseas absentee ballots (submitted for delivery no later than 11 :59 P.M. on April 22), April 30 
  • Last day to circulate and file nomination papers, August 1 
  • Last day to file objections to nomination papers,August 8 
  • Last day for withdrawal by candidates nominated by nomination papers, August 8 
  • Last day for withdrawal by candidates nominated at the primary, August 12
