Thousands of children, parents, and other visitors packed the Gettysburg rec park for the 7th annual Adams County Library Funfest this afternoon.
It was a warm and humid, but not blistering hot, day, and although clouds moved in, the rain held off.
The event aims to promote community engagement, raise awareness about local organizations, and provide a fun learning experience for all ages as well as encourage sign-up for SummerQuest, the Adams County Library’s free summer learning and adventure program for children and adults.
“FunFest has doubled in size,” said Erica Duffy, ACLS Development Director Eric Duffy, noting there were over 50 organizations on site, each providing activities to make for a fun-filled afternoon.
The local libraries had hands-on activities as well.
Food trucks were on-site, including the popular PA Dairyman Association Milkshakes truck with a long line of customers before it even opened.
If you or your family members have not already done so, sign up for SummerQuest here www.adamslibrary.org/summerquest . It’s free and you can track your progress and win prizes. This is a motivating way to encourage reading for both children and adults during summer.
