40th Anniversary for Farm Aid

Farm Aid will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Saturday, September 20, with an all-day festival at Huntington Bank Stadium, bringing together music, food, and advocacy for family farmers.

Since 1985, Farm Aid has combined star-powered performances with a mission to support farmers facing economic pressures and industry challenges. This year’s milestone event will showcase a diverse lineup of artists across genres, including Willie Nelson & Family, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Kenny Chesney, Margo Price, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Wynonna Judd, Trampled by Turtles, and many others.

Beyond music, the festival will highlight the resilience of family farmers and the importance of a sustainable food system. Attendees will enjoy Farm Aid’s signature HOMEGROWN Concessions®, offering local and organic foods sourced from family farms. The event aims to connect concertgoers directly to the farmers who supply the food on their plates while spotlighting the challenges they face from corporate consolidation, shifting policies, and economic instability.

Farm Aid was launched in 1985 by Nelson, Young, and Mellencamp in response to the farm crisis, raising money and awareness for farmers struggling to keep their land. Over the past four decades, the organization has invested millions in programs that provide emergency assistance, advocate for fair farm policies, and promote farmer-led solutions to climate and market pressures.

Bringing the festival to Minnesota highlights the significance of agriculture to the Midwest and the nation’s food supply. Organizers say the anniversary event is both a celebration of past progress and a recommitment to the fight for fair prices, sustainable practices, and stronger support for independent farmers.

With its blend of music, food, and activism, Farm Aid 40 is expected to bring together thousands of fans, advocates, and farmers for a day of entertainment and purpose. Tickets are available now at FarmAid40.org or by calling 1-800-U-GOPHER.
