Supporting our Community: Local Nonprofits Come Together During Match Madness

The Partnership for Better Health’s ninth annual Match Madness campaign launches next Friday, March 1.
Over the course of the month, fifty-seven organizations will come together in this fundraising effort in support of local residents. Individually and together, these organizations build connections and community, providing resources to ensure everyone has the opportunity to reach their highest potential for health.
Since inception, the Partnership for Better Health’s annual initiative has raised over $3 million for local
nonprofits, who provide essential services and resources to residents in Cumberland, Perry, Adams, and
Franklin Counties.

The Partnership is thrilled to welcome many first-time participants to the 2024 campaign, including Blue
Mountain Escape, Bosler Memorial Library, Carlisle Kiwanis Club Foundation, Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties, Launch Pad, Millerstown Senior Citizens Center, and Tri-County Community Action.

“We have never supported so many organizations through Match Madness, and we are delighted to have so many new participants!” shares Antonia Price, Director of Communications and Development for the Partnership. “The impact of these organizations on individuals across our communities is astounding, and it is truly an honor to highlight the important work that they do.”

A record-breaking 2023 Match Madness campaign raised over $859,000 for area nonprofits. Top fundraisers included Project SHARE, raising $105,242 to address food insecurity in the greater Carlisle area, Community CARES, with $56,676 to provide reassurance, rest, and resources to those experiencing housing insecurity in Cumberland County, and Tomorrow’s Neighbors, raising $53,405 to empower Returning Citizens to become responsible community members.

By giving to the Partnership’s campaign in March, community members and organizations can increase the impact of their donation. Each nonprofit receives 100 percent of donations made in their name, as well as a portion of $150,000 in matching funds from the Partnership for Better Health. The matching funds are available thanks to the generous support of WellSpan Health, Josiah W. Bessie H. Kline Foundation, M&T Bank, Penn State Health and Highmark, and Partnership board members, volunteers, and staff.

In anticipation of the campaign, this year’s celebratory kick-off event was held at the Partnership office on February 22. Staff and volunteers from participating organizations gathered to share ideas and prepare for the launch of this collective fundraising effort.

To support local nonprofits through the Match Madness campaign, individuals may donate online, by check, or stock transfer between March 1-31. Gifts by credit card can be made through the Partnership for Better Health’s online donation portal: fbh.fyi/Match24.

Donations by check must be made payable to “Partnership for Better Health” and mailed to 274 Wilson Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 between March 1-31. Donors should designate the participating nonprofit organization(s) they would like to support on the memo line.
