Victoria “Vickie” A. Shetter Biesecker, 79, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 10, 1946, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Charlotte (Staub) Shetter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Biesecker, who passed away in December 2017, and by her beloved daughter, Diane Reneker.
Vickie was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a graduate of both St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Delone Catholic High School, Class of 1964. Before entering the workforce, she was employed full-time in her favorite role — raising eight spirited children — a job she managed with equal parts patience, humor, and determination. Once her children were grown (or at least mostly raised), she joined the parish staff and dedicated more than 27 years to supporting the Religious Education program at St. Francis Xavier.
Above all else, Vickie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who attended countless games, recitals, and celebrations.
Vickie is survived by her children, Jim Biesecker and his wife Becky of Gettysburg, PA, Andy Biesecker and Jenn Berman of Gettysburg, PA, Phil Biesecker and his wife Tracy of Mebane, NC, Tom Biesecker and his wife Nicki of Biglerville, PA, Joe Biesecker and his wife Tina of Lancaster, PA, Greg Biesecker and his wife Nicole of Camp Hill, PA, Katie St. Clair and her husband Darren of Gettysburg, PA, She is also lovingly remembered by her son-in-law, Mark Reneker and his wife Katie of Dillsburg.
Vickie leaves behind a large and loving family, including eighteen grandchildren — Justin (Tia), Taylor (Kelsey), Lance, Alex (Mariah), Emily, Diana, Cole, Anaïs, Caleb, Sam, Kylie, Caryn, Dayton, Blake, Luke, Maddy, Nora, and Dominic — and five great-grandchildren who all brought her tremendous joy.
Vickie is also survived by her siblings: Joan and her husband, Robert Omick, of Gettysburg; Richard Shetter and his wife, Janice, of Gettysburg; Fred Shetter and his wife, Sue, of Waynesboro; Teresa and Steve Myers of Orrtanna; and Pat Paris of Gettysburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, High Street, Gettysburg, on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM with interment to follow in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 455 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, in Vickie’s memory.
