Adams County to offer Master Watershed Steward training program

What is the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward program, and how can it benefit the local community?

An upcoming information session will introduce the Spring 2026 Master Watershed Steward training program and outline how to apply to become a Master Watershed Steward, one of Penn State Extension’s fastest-growing volunteer initiatives, making measurable impacts across Pennsylvania.

This workshop is geared toward prospective applicants in Adams County. Organizers also can assist individuals in connecting with their local Master Watershed Steward program.

“Master Watershed Steward Training Info for Adams County” will occur from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 9th, at the Agricultural & Natural Resources Center, 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg.

The session is ideal for individuals interested in natural resource conservation, passionate about environmental education outreach, or looking to connect with like-minded volunteers and industry professionals.

Topics will include:

— Volunteer efforts of Master Watershed Stewards.
— Partnerships established through the program.
— Training curriculum topics.
— Application process to become a Master Watershed Steward.
— Program costs and fees.

Participation is free. Registration is appreciated but walk-ins are welcome.

The Penn State Master Watershed Steward program provides extensive training in watershed management to volunteers who, in return, educate the community about watershed stewardship based on university research and recommendations. The program was established to strengthen local capacity for management and protection of watersheds, streams and rivers by educating and empowering volunteers across the commonwealth.
