Adams County 4-H leaders are honored

Adams County 4-H members and leaders were honored at the annual Adams County 4-H Leaders and Members Recognition Night on October 6 at the Agriculture and Natural Resources Center in Gettysburg. These individuals provide the spark to Adams County’s 4-H experience.

The evening began with a homemade apple crisp and ice cream social, followed by the 4-H Clubs of Adams County Inc. annual meeting and the election of new 4-H board members.

After the conclusion of the annual meeting, 4-H youth were recognized with the following 4-H memorial awards.

Claire Lawrence of New Oxford received the Mrs. Edward Snyder Clothing Award.
Walter Wukovitz of New Oxford received the John Myers Camp Award.
Jerica Keller of Gettysburg received the Elizabeth Brown Foods Award.
Bailey Green of Gettysburg received the Larry Feeser Sr. Swine Award.
Casey Zirk of Gettysburg received the Clue Meyerhoffer Citizenship Award.
Luke Workman of Littlestown received the Rose Murren Leadership Award.
Samantha Grant of Gettysburg received the Robert Lott Citizenship Award.
Leroy Rentzel of Gettysburg received the William Miller Leadership Award.
Walter Wukovitz of New Oxford received the ABC Williams Leadership Award.

Pennsylvania 4-H Clover Award winners were also recognized.
Green Clover recipients were Findley Waybright, Phoebe McDannell, Gabriella McKendrick, and Adeline Kane.
White Clover recipients were Stellar Gilbert, Morgan Wilkinson, Hayden Wilkinson, Presley Reading, and Solstice Gilbert.
The Bronze Clover went to Norah DeGennaro, the Silver Clover to Eugene Rentzel, and the Gold Clover to Leroy Rentzel. Each received a pin for their accomplishments.

All 4-H members who completed projects at the 2025 fair will receive a 4-H travel bag for their achievements. All 4-H volunteers were recognized with an Adams County 4-H travel bag as a token of appreciation for their service to the program.

Volunteers completing their first year of service and receiving a gold clover pin were Holly Eillison, Joel Gilbert, Candice Keller, Sherri Robinson, David Stoner, Brittany Miller, Tammy Waddell, Christopher Waybright, and George Weikert.

Missy Jeffcoat was recognized for 20 years of service with a diamond chip 4-H clover pin and plaque. Judy Sterner was honored for 45 years of service with an emerald 4-H clover pin and a custom-embroidered Adams County 4-H vest.

Cooper Veterinary Services received the Partner in 4-H Award for their continuous support of the Adams County 4-H program. Glenda Miller received the Individual Partner in 4-H Award, and Donna Livelsberger of the New Oxford 4-H Club received the Distinguished 4-H Leader Award.

Laura Wukovitz, a 4-H board member completing six years of service to 4-H Clubs of Adams County Inc., was presented with a laser-engraved pen box and custom-designed pen. Jim Waybright, Waverly Keller, Deb Flickinger, and Rachel Stottlemyer were each elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors of 4-H Clubs of Adams County Inc.

Special thanks were extended to Glenda Miller, Joel Gilbert, Chris Waybright, Laura Wukovitz, and Amy Flickinger for preparing the delicious homemade apple crisp with apples donated by Deb’s Market.

The 4-H Leaders and Members Recognition Planning Committee included Laura Wukovitz, Joel Gilbert, and Deb Flickinger. 4-H Educators Jenna Waybright and Alexis Lansford coordinated the evening’s festivities.
