Obituary: Robert “Bob” Atkins

Robert E. S. “Bob” Atkins, 73, of Fairfield, PA, died on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Gettysburg Hospital following a brief illness.

Bob was born July 2, 1952, in Newburgh, NY, the son of the late Robert Briley and Katherine Piekara, and his adoptive father, Eber Atkins.

Bob was a history buff and portrayed Gen John Reynolds at many living history and re-enactment events in Gettysburg. Bob enjoyed attending Hershey Bears games and was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and the New Jersey Devils.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Sarah Atkins-Costanzo, Marie Smith, and Elizabeth Atkins, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson, Charlie Smith, son of Cody and Kaitlynn Smith. He is also survived by his partner of 22 years, Rhonda Huff, and her children, Paul Huff and Shannon Huff, and granddaughter, Sierra.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6-8 PM at the East Wind Room, Liberty Mountain Resort, Carroll Valley, PA.
