Turkey dinners once again draw long lines in Biglerville

Biglerville residents turned out in force today for a free prepared turkey dinner giveaway. Cars began lining up well before the noon kickoff at Biglerville Hose & Truck Co. No. 1. Biglerville Mayor Phil Wagner said 525 people came through the line, and the steady stream of vehicles made clear that the community was eager to take part in the annual tradition.

Warm stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, tender turkey, and green beans filled the autumn air as volunteers packed and handed out meals. Each container was assembled with care, offering families a comforting Thanksgiving feast just in time for the holiday.

Dessert was just as generous. A variety of pies—including classic pumpkin and sweet blueberry—were available, and many attendees commented on the kindness behind the effort.

One man waiting in his car said that after picking up a meal, he and his dog planned to head to State College for the Penn State game later in the day.

Mayor Phil, who has long supported the event, helped direct traffic and shared bittersweet news: this year’s giveaway will be the last. He explained that the anonymous donor who has funded the meals for years “is going away,” leaving the event without a sponsor unless another benefactor steps forward.

Donations were accepted to help support Biglerville Hose & Truck Co. No. 1.
