Obituary: Esther Marie Naugle

Esther Marie Naugle, 86, Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in New Oxford, PA.

She was born January 17, 1939, in Sanger, W.VA, the daughter of the late Andrew and Gertrude Peyatt Pritt. Her husband of 50 years, Glenn C. Naugle, died in 2015.

Marie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Biglerville, PA. For many years, she assisted her husband on the family farm, and she also did various cleaning jobs in the area. She was also an assistant at Redding’s Auction House. Marie was also a long-term caregiver for her mother-in-law. Marie was always the leader of the pack, whatever the event was, including exercise, dancing, singing, or just walking the track at the high school.

Ms. Naugle is survived by a sister, Betty Shafer of Myrtle Beach, SC and a brother, Tony Pritt of Dallastown, PA. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters; Minnie Treadway, Charity Speelman, Sylvia Altice, Dovie Royston, Bobby Pritt, Ernest Wesley Pritt, Clarence Pritt, Andrew Pritt, James Pritt, Virgie Pritt, Verdie Mae Richards, Nellie Light, Marvel Pritt, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a stepson, David C. Naugle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Rev. Ryan Heytock officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 Franklin Street, Biglerville, PA 17307. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to the staff of the Brethren Home for their wonderful care of Marie for over 2 years.
