Obituary: Frank John Berry

He was born on March 26, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Bernice, five siblings, Bill, Bob, Peggy, Alice, and Joe, and dear friend Franny Iacovone. Frank is survived by his wife, Nancy, son, Frank (Jessie) of York, PA, daughter, Tina (William) of Gettysburg, PA, a brother, Jack (Mary) of The Villages, FL, a brother-in-law, Jack of Biggs, CA, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

When Frank was around 12 years old, the family moved from Philly to South Jersey, where he grew up. In his youth, he played semi-pro football and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he trained in the Army’s 10th Infantry Division. He later served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was living in Reno, NV, when he met the love of his life, Nancy. Together, they moved to South Jersey, where they raised two amazing children. After a stint working as an electrician, he started a career in the Atlantic City casinos and retired as a Floor Person. He moved to Carroll Valley, PA, and became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he felt at home. Frank belonged to the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for the Mission of Mercy and the Carroll Valley Golf Course. He was a passionate gardener and was once awarded the Carroll Valley “Yard of the Month”. He enjoyed being with friends and family, golfing, watching football, playing cards, and going to church.

Frank had a kind heart, a good sense of humor, and a deep faith in God, which served him well on this journey and will serve him well into the next.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield, PA, with Fr. Peter DiTomasso as celebrant. Interment will be with full military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
