Alice Broadway will lead the Gettysburg Area School District Board of Directors for the next year. The board unanimously voted on Monday for Broadway to replace Kenny Hassinger, whose term ended this year.
Broadway moved to Gettysburg in 2010 when she enrolled in Gettysburg College. She served on the board in 2019 before beginning a second term in 2023. She is an elementary music teacher in the Mechanicsburg School District.
Al Moyer will serve as Broadway’s vice president. Moyer joined the board in 2018. He has a long career in education and currently serves as interim superintendent of Littlestown Area School District as well as executive director of Gettysburg Area Recreation Association.
The board also welcomed new members Donna Harrison, Justine Sieg, Dave Sites, and Ryan Kerney. They join Kathleen Pratt, Michael Dickerson, Tim Seigman, Moyer, and Broadway.

Act 1 Tax Limit
The board unanimously adopted the Act 1 Resolution, indicating it will not raise taxes by more than 4.2% for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Each year, Pennsylvania school districts must choose between adopting either a preliminary general fund budget or stating that taxes will not be raised above the school district’s Act 1 adjusted index.
The Act 1 index represents the maximum tax increase a school district can levy without Pennsylvania Department of Education or voter approval. The motion does not necessarily mean the board will increase taxes.
