Obituary: Elmer M. Thomas

Elmer M. Thomas, 86 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at York Hospital.

Born July 7, 1939, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late David & Martha (Carter) Thomas. Elmer leaves behind his longtime companion, Norma L. Littleton.

Elmer was a 1957 graduate of Gettysburg High School and served in the U. S. Army. He had been employed by the Schindler Elevator Co. in Gettysburg for many years and served as a security guard at the former Gettysburg National Tower.

Elmer attended the Brownsville Church of God in Fayetteville, PA.

He enjoyed fishing, attending sporting events and taking car rides with Norma.

In addition to Norma, Elmer is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Barnett, a sister, Mary Louise “Beezie” Perez, and two brothers, David and Edward Thomas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Pastor Victor Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment with full military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
