Gettysburg College has announced three new affiliation partnerships designed to strengthen students’ pathways into health care careers.
Beginning immediately, the College will partner with the Penn State College of Medicine, the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at Villanova University, and the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM). Together, these agreements will expand opportunities for students pursuing careers as physicians and nurses.
“Our communities—and our nation—depend on cultivating knowledgeable and compassionate leaders in these roles,” said Gettysburg College Provost Jamila Bookwala, “and our three new partnerships affirm Gettysburg’s commitment to producing graduates who are ready to meet this need.”
Through the Early Assurance Program with the Penn State College of Medicine, exceptional Gettysburg sophomores in strong academic standing may apply for provisional early acceptance to medical school. The agreement acknowledges the intellectual curiosity, service orientation, and global awareness that Gettysburg students bring to the field.
Gettysburg graduates interested in nursing will benefit from the College’s new partnership with Villanova University’s M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing. Under this agreement, up to five qualified graduates each year may enroll in Villanova’s Second Degree Accelerated BSN program and be eligible for the full range of need-based and merit scholarships.
The partnership with the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine guarantees qualified Gettysburg graduates a formal interview for MSOM’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree program, along with early access to MCAT preparation, student shadowing, and other pre-admission resources.
Together, these partnerships expand Gettysburg College’s longstanding commitment to preparing future health care leaders poised to serve their communities with skill, compassion, and purpose.
