Elinor Colleen (Settle) Bender, aka “Teeny”, 88, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at York Hospital.
She was born August 20, 1937, in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late Paul and Edna (Stevens) Settle. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, George Ross Bender; her siblings, Paul M., Jack R., and Marion P. Settle; and a great-grandson, Christopher Joseph Bender.
She is survived by a son, George Thomas, and wife, Mary Bender; daughters: Janet Lee and husband, Reverend Paul Lutz; Lois Anne Steinour; Karen “Petey” Bender; and a long-time family friend, Emily Harte. Grandchildren: Dr. Nicholas Paul (wife Elizabeth), Benjamin James and Anthony Michael Steinour, Jessica Lee (husband Brandon Gordon), Andrew Thomas (wife Krista) Bender, Erika Lee (husband Robert Thomas), and Morgan Taylor Lutz. Great Grandchildren: Landen Michael, Andrew Thomas II, Gracie Anne, Elinor Jean, Davis Paul, Gavin Jacob, Sadie James, Layla Mae, Genevieve Ruth, and Lincoln Oliver, and a brother, J. William Settle of Gettysburg, PA.
Teeny was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church. She welcomed all into her home with a smile and warm greetings and lived a life of service and dedication to her church and community. Most of all, Teen always surrounded herself with family and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
