Jane P. LeVan, Gettysburg, PA, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home surrounded by her sons.
She was born January 9, 1934, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Lester H. and Margaret Knowlson Perry. Her husband, Alfred L. LeVan, Jr., died in 1979.
Jane was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Sunday Adult Discussion Group. She was a 1952 graduate of Lemoyne High School and a 1956 graduate of Shippensburg University. Following college, she began a long teaching career as an elementary school teacher. She retired in 1996 after spending 28 years in the Upper Adams School District. Jane loved antiques and collected many. She also enjoyed her yearly trip to Avalon, NJ, with her teaching colleagues. Jane was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization and the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers’ Organization.
Jane is survived by a brother, John L. Perry of Camp Hill, PA, two sons; James A. LeVan and his wife Mary Beth of East Berlin, PA and Matt LeVan and his wife Gina of Biglerville, PA, two grandchildren; Thurlow Null LeVan (Nicole) of Chesapeake, VA, and Demetria LeVan of Virginia Beach, VA, and four great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, PA, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
