Obituary: Rebecca Dwyer Funt

Rebecca Dwyer Funt, 44, Littlestown, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the result of an auto accident.

She was born on November 13, 1981, in Towson, MD, and raised in Hampstead, MD, the daughter of James P. and Catherine Edgar Dwyer of Hampstead, MD. Rebecca is also survived by her husband, Travis L. Funt.

Rebecca was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown, PA. She was a 1999 graduate of North Carroll High School and attended Towson University. Rebecca was a devoted homemaker, involved in every aspect of her family life. She served on the Alloway Creek Elementary School PTO Board, volunteering for numerous events; her favorite was the Holiday Shoppe.

Rebecca attended all of her children’s sporting events and school functions, often cheering loudly enough for everyone to hear. Rebecca enjoyed cooking, knitting, and traveling, especially to Disney World. But most of all, she loved time at the family home on the Chester River with her family. And family vacations at Deep Creek Lake.

Rebecca was a beautiful, sweet, kind, happy, intelligent woman. She had a smile and a friendly greeting for everyone she met.

In addition to her parents and husband she is survived by two children; Adam J. Funt and Margaret C. “Maggie” Funt both at home, four brothers and sisters; John P. Dwyer and his wife Michelle of Hampstead, MD, Anne M. Hardtke and her husband Joseph of Westminster, MD, Mary Caitlin Fishel and her husband Mark of Manchester, MD and Paul J. Dwyer and his wife Ashlee of Westminster, MD and many nieces and nephews.

Rebecca was predeceased by her grandparents, Robert J. and Janet E. Edgar, G. Edward and Catherine Dwyer, and her beloved Aunt Margie Nossel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM from St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Manchester, MD. Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Thunderbolt Foundation, send checks to 162 Newark Street, Littlestown, PA 17340. In the memo, put a memorial for Rebecca Funt. Jim and Kathy, I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your daughter. I can’t even imagine. I tried to get to her funeral, but my kid said I’m not allowed to walk on the ice and that’s all I’ve gotten in my driveway. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and if there’s anything I can do please let me know. God bless you all.
