Elaine E. Moritz, age 86, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born March 25, 1939, in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late James B. Althoff and Pauline (Griest) Althoff.
Elaine graduated from Biglerville High School in 1957 and immediately started working in the office at Knouse Foods, Peach Glen, until the birth of her children. After raising her three sons, she worked in the office at Dal-Tile Gettysburg for 25 years until her retirement in 2004.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower and vegetable gardening, and sitting on the swing, spending time with family and friends. She was a life member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Gettysburg.
She is survived by three sons: Mark E. (Kristin) of Columbia, PA, Matthew L. (Cynthia) of Downingtown, PA, and Marty D. of Gettysburg; four grandchildren: Erika, Karl (Cassie), Adam (Michelle), and Justin (Caroline); and two great-grandchildren: David and Julia.
She is also survived by her brothers, Ronald (Deb) Althoff and Clair (Janet) Althoff, sister-in-law Jean Griest, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Gary L. Moritz, with whom she enjoyed 58 years of marriage, and brother, Harry Griest.
Professional services are entrusted to Monahan Funeral Home with visitation at St. Francis Xavier Church, Gettysburg, on Friday, February 20th, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Fr. Michael Pray, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to St. Francis Xavier Church, 455 Table Rock Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325
