Obituary: Daniel James Durf, Sr.

Daniel James Durf, Sr., 70, of Shermans Dale, PA, passed away on February 11, 2026, in the UPMC Carlisle Hospital. He was born on January 8, 1956, in Carlisle, to the late Clarence and Rosie (Richwine) Durf.

Daniel worked at Ames True Temper, where he was a forklift operator and was on the safety committee. He attended the Carlisle Church of God, where he became a born-again Christian. Daniel was a member of the Pine Creek Vista, where he enjoyed camping for many years. He was an avid fisherman, especially when taking his boat out. Daniel especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, and grilling.

Surviving are his son, Daniel Durf, Jr. (Jessica), of Tamaqua, PA; grandchildren, Alexis, Dakota, Harley, April, and Destiniee Durf; siblings, Mary Dehoff of Carlisle, Marie Rickrode (Roger) of Carlisle, Cyndy Motter (Doug) of Mt. Holly Springs, and Joseph Durf of Shermans Dale; and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Durf, and siblings Kenneth, Donald, Leroy, Robert, and Leonard Durf.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in the Carlisle Church of God, 458 N. College St., Carlisle, PA 17013, with Pastor Dean Ramsey officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Church of God. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
