St. Francis Xavier Parish brings back Lenten Friday fish fry dinners in Gettysburg

A popular Lenten tradition is returning to Gettysburg as St. Francis Xavier Parish prepares to host its annual Friday Fish Fry Dinners, offering six evenings of food, fellowship and community support during the 2026 season.

The dinners will be held on Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Xavier Center, 465 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg. This year’s schedule includes meals on Feb. 20 and 27, followed by March 6, 13, 20, and 27. Purchasers may eat in or take meals to go, and no reservations are required.

The six-week menu features several meal options. “The Admiral” includes two seasoned baked fish selections that are gluten free, along with two sides, dessert and a beverage for $15. “The Captain” offers two fried fish fillets with sides, dessert and a beverage, also for $15.

Those looking for a sandwich option can choose the “First Mate,” a fried fish fillet sandwich served with cheese on a hamburger bun, cole slaw, one side, dessert and a beverage for $13.

Special pricing is available for students. The “Seaman 1st,” offered to kindergarten through 12th-grade students only, includes a fish sandwich, one side, dessert and a beverage for $7. Additional youth-friendly options include pizza or macaroni and cheese meals.

Sides vary weekly and may include potatoes, seasoned vegetables, mac and cheese, cole slaw or corn pudding, depending on availability. Children age 5 and under who attend with parents may eat free.

More information and updates are available by calling 717-334-4048 or 845-325-5916, or by visiting the parish website at https://www.stfxcc.org/fishfry.

If Gettysburg schools are closed or remote learning is announced because of inclement weather, that evening’s fish fry will be canceled.
