Mark Glen Hopkins, 82, Gettysburg, PA, formerly of Dana Point, CA, passed away at the Wellspan York Hospital on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
He was born on November 3, 1943, in Westminster, CA, to the late Glen and Ruth Hopkins. Mark was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by his sister Peggy and brothers Gene and Tommy.
Mark grew up in Westminster, CA, and attended Westminster High School. He was a Police Officer in the Los Angeles Police Department for 40 years and retired as a Police Officer III in 2004. Following his retirement, he owned and operated a company that provided private personal security to high-profile clients in the Los Angeles area. He was a lifelong member of Los Angeles Police Department organizations.
Mark was an avid fan of the University of Southern California Trojans, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and enjoyed college football. He was a Southern Californian for 80 years and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the beach and the Colorado River. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid walker. Mark enjoyed telling stories of his experiences as a Los Angeles Police Officer and always had an amusing anecdote that left everyone smiling. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by his son, Mark A. Hopkins, Sr., and his wife Marie of Gettysburg, PA, a daughter, Geia Maye of Yucaipa, CA, and three grandchildren: Mark A. Jr., Kimberly, and Brittany.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM from Christ Chapel on the campus of Gettysburg College with Fr. Michael Pray as celebrant.
