Obituary: H. Glenn Steager

H. Glenn Steager, 88, Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Gettysburg Center in Gettysburg, PA.

He was born on November 4, 1937, in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Howard and Ida (Cutman) Steager.

Glenn Steager is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Riverton Consolidated Water Co. and MidWestern Coating Corp, Highspire, PA, during the 1960’s. He then owned and operated MB in C Plumbing in Mechanicsburg, PA. Following his retirement from the plumbing company, he and his son ran Steager Hauling, a trucking business in the Enola area. Glenn was very involved in the Civil War reenactment community around the Gettysburg area, even taking part in the filming of the movie “Gettysburg”. Glenn was a member of the Dauphin County Veterans Honor Guard. He and Sandy Smith also did catering for Civil War weddings/gatherings. Glenn was also an avid hunter.

Glenn Steager is survived by three children; Dwayne Steager and his wife Sharon (Sides) of Millersville, PA, Kevin Steager and his wife Charity (Mowen) of Harrisburg, PA, Dorine Englehart and her husband George of Fayetteville, PA, 15 grandchildren; Daniel Steager, Laura Olphin, Aaron Steager, Kendall Steager, Zareck Steager, Naylin Bastardi, Kerensa Kyler, Katelynn Breneman, Tyler Englehart, Aundraya Englehart, Benjamin Englehart, Joshua Englehart, Candice Englehart, Nethanial Englehart, Anniyah Englehart, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Dale Steager and his wife Reta of Dillsburg, PA and a sister-in-law, Martha Steager, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers: Carl Steager and Marlin “Bud” Steager.

A Private Celebration of Glenn’s Life will take place at Cross Roads Cemetery in Lewisberry, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Honor Guard of Dauphin County. Online obituary and condolences available at monahanfuneralhome.com.
