Gettysburg residents are being urged to act within the next several days to avoid disruptions in trash and recycling service as the borough transitions from Waste Management to Waste Connections.
According to a public notice issued March 25, residents must set up an account with Waste Connections in order to receive new trash and recycling containers and continue service without interruption.
Waste Management will make its final collections on March 30 and March 31. On residents’ regular service days, the company will also retrieve its existing containers.
Waste Connections will begin delivering new containers starting the week of March 30, but only for residents who have already established accounts.
Waste Connections will begin service on April 6 and 7.
Officials warned that the timeline is tight.
“You have about five days to complete this to avoid service delays,” the notice states.
All residents are required to contact Waste Connections directly to set up service. Accounts can be established by calling 717-709-1700 or by visiting the company’s website.
Residents who do not complete the sign-up process in time may experience a lapse in trash and recycling pickup during the transition period.
