Bruce Hollabaugh Memorial Run is coming up

The second annual Bruce Hollabaugh Memorial 5K and Fun Run is set to return April 12 at Hollabaugh Bros., Inc., offering runners and walkers a scenic route through one of Adams County’s best-known family farms while supporting community causes.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and will again wind through the orchard rows of the fourth-generation farm, which has been growing apples since 1955. Organizers say this year’s race will feature a new addition — a shorter, flatter Fun Run option designed to make the event more accessible to participants of all ages and fitness levels.

The race honors the memory of Bruce A. Hollabaugh, a third-generation member of the farm family who died unexpectedly in 2022 at age 41. Known for his role as production manager and for his deep involvement in the community, Hollabaugh’s legacy continues through the event and its charitable mission.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Bruce A. Hollabaugh Memorial Endowment Fund, which is managed by the Adams County Community Foundation. The fund supports local charities and initiatives that reflect Hollabaugh’s passions and commitment to the Upper Adams community.

The event has quickly become both a tribute and a gathering point for the community, blending fitness, remembrance and local pride. Organizers say participants can expect more than just a race, with food trucks, raffles, awards and a festive atmosphere planned throughout the morning.

Early registrants who signed up before March 22 are guaranteed a race T-shirt and commemorative medal, while supplies for those items will be available on a limited basis for later sign-ups.

The course itself offers a unique experience, taking participants through blooming orchard landscapes at the height of spring in Adams County, a setting that has become a signature feature of the event.

Organizers encourage runners, walkers, and families to take part, noting that the event is designed to be inclusive while also supporting a meaningful cause tied to the local community.
