Lee B. Hartman, 90 of Cashtown, PA, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Born July 17, 1935 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late LeRoy & Mildred (Tabler) Hartman. Lee is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Janet M. (Heller) Hartman.
He graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from 1953-1955. Following his military service, he went to work for PennDOT while earning an associate degree in civil engineering. Lee worked hard, and after several promotions within PennDOT, he became Maintenance Manager for Adams County, where he retired after thirty-five years of service.
Lee was a life member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Cashtown, active with Masonic Lodge #336 in Gettysburg, and was very proud to be a Free Mason. After his retirement from PennDOT, Lee started and operated a construction company in the Adams County area for many years. Lee always looked forward to his hunting trips to Colorado with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jerry Hartman and his wife Colleen of Orrtanna, PA, Jenny Hartman-Winpigler of Walkersville, MD, and Derek Hartman and his wife Amanda of York, PA, and seven grandchildren.
Lee was predeceased by his sister, and brother-in-law, Rose Mary & Bud Kilmon. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 1126 Old Route #30, Orrtanna/Cashtown, with Rev. Rodger Snyder officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be private. A reception will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P. O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
