Obituary: Earl Stitely, Jr.

Earl “Doc” Stitely, Jr., 83, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on April 2, 2026. He was the loving husband of Linda (Bless) Stitely for 41 years. Born July 24, 1942, in Middleburg, MD, he was the devoted son of the late Earl, Sr., and Charlotte (Johnson) Stitely.

Doc, as he was called by all who knew him, was a loving husband and father who was known to be bullheaded. He loved to fish and crab with his son Doug, watch wrestling, eating the buffet at Bonanza and Chick-Fil-A, and going to Ocean City, MD and Washington, DC to see the History Museum along with the Aerospace Museum..

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his children, Doug Stitely and wife Misty, Brian Stitely and significant other Lori Stonesifer, and Sherry Rau; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his cats, Cheddar and Pepper Jack; close cousins, Junior and Joan Johnson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Iser.

A Celebration of Doc’s life will be held at a later date.
