Josephine Winifred Bupp Yost Bredbenner, 90, of Gardners, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at her residence. She was born on Sunday, May 19, 1935, in Gardners, PA, to the late Paul Richard and Edith Mary Kline Bupp and was the widow of Creedin Yost (1976) and James Bredbenner, Sr. (2014).
I went to Hickory Point School for 8 years and graduated from York Springs High School in 1953.
I began working at Peach Glen canning factory (Knouse Foods) shortly after graduation.
In June 1954, the “Gospel Sunshine Hour,” under my direction, began broadcasting on the Gettysburg radio station, WGET. Rev. & Mrs. Theodore Gaylor gave up their time (12:30 – 1:00) for the Young People’s Church on the air. Rev. Gaylor asked me to take his radio spot.
I began the “Gospel Sunshine Hour” in June 1954. We left WGET and went to WHYL, Carlisle.
In early 1956, we started on WCBG – Chambersburg for about one year. We left Carlisle radio station in early 1962. The Midway Pentecostal Church was started through this program.
I am survived by my blended family, a son, Robert Yost (Margie) and daughters, Barbara Starner, Donna Judd, and Kathy Jacoby, Dorothy, Donald and James Bredbenner, Jr and an honorary son, Ike Eisenhauer, grandchildren, Heather Frey (Ken), Creedin Yost (Stefanie), John Yost, Christina Yost, Tonia Kriner, Tammie Jefferies, Cassandra Bredbenner and Hazel Sadesky (John), 12
great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. I am survived by my brothers, Kenneth and Dale Bupp, and my sister, Lucille Bupp. In addition to my husbands, I was predeceased by a son, Scott Yost, a son-in-law, Justin Judd, a great-granddaughter, Jaxsyn Erdeljac, brothers, Paul and Stanley Bupp, and sisters, Doris Kendall and Beverly Burton.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065, with Pastor Jason Turner officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday, both in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Burial will be held in the Idaville Church Cemetery, and a time of fellowship and luncheon will follow services and be held in the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mt Holly Church of God funeral fund or the Midway Pentecostal Church building fund.
