Obituary: Kathleen Fay Cheeks

Kathleen Fay Cheeks, 91, surrounded by family, was called home to the Lord on April 21, 2026, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pa.

Known to most as “Kitty,” she was born on May 22, 1934, in Bel Air, Maryland, to her parents, James Booher and Roxie ( Mitchell) Booher. Kitty grew up in Union Bridge, Maryland, graduating from Elmer Wolfe High School in 1952.

Kitty knew her calling was to become a nurse and to marry her high school sweetheart, Warner H Cheeks. They adored each other and were happily married for 48 wonderful years.

Kitty spent 30 years as a dedicated nurse, nurturing thousands of patients in the Frederick and Walkersville communities. Most of her career was spent working in a family medical practice in Walkersville, Maryland.

Kitty is survived by 3 lovely daughters, Denise L. Wolfe (Dennis) of Fairfield Pa, Diane L. Daniels (Gregory) of Thurmont, Md and Dawn M. Rosensteel (Owen) of Fairfield Pa; 8 grandchildren, Amanda Neely, Krista Meketa, Samantha Finkenbinder, Jessica Blair, Benjamin Daniels, Alexandra Browne, Bridget Runk, Rebecca Blevins and 14 great grandchildren, her sister Alice Sellers and many nieces and nephews.

Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Warner Cheeks, her sister June Stutzman, and her brother Robert Booher.

Kitty will be remembered by her family as a joyful gal who always found the positive in life. Her legacy will live on in her family through songs, laughter, and trips to the beach.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Rd A, Thurmont, MD 21788
