Mission Of Mercy To Provide Free Dental Clinics For Veterans

Gettysburg, PA – Mission of Mercy is proud to announce a new collaboration to offer free dental care for veterans through monthly dental clinics. This initiative is dedicated to serving veterans who do not have access to dental care by providing free high-quality, compassionate treatment.

Starting June 2026, Mission of Mercy’s state-of-the-art, three-chair mobile dental clinic will be stationed outside the American Legion in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania one Friday per month. Adams County Veterans Affairs will assist with outreach efforts within the veteran community and coordinate appointments for those in need.

Ribbon Cutting

On May 15, 2026, Mission of Mercy celebrated the launch of the program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the American Legion, held in collaboration with the Adams/Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce. Local businesses, community supporters, and several dignitaries gathered to commemorate and show their support for this important initiative. Special recognition was given to Dr. Scott Reffner, DMD, and his dental team for volunteering on the program’s first day and for their commitment to continue serving throughout the coming year. Senator Doug Mastriano, who spoke at the event, said, “Folks like Mission of Mercy are giving us all hope, extending a hand, especially for those in need – please support them generously.”

To bring this life-changing service to life, Mission of Mercy is currently seeking additional licensed dentists, assistants, and hygienists in Pennsylvania to volunteer one Friday per month, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Mission of Mercy will provide malpractice insurance for dental professionals.

For over 30 years, Mission of Mercy has been delivering free healthcare, dental care, and medications in Maryland and Pennsylvania to uninsured and underinsured individuals through the support of volunteer professionals, hospitals, and community partners.

Many veterans face significant barriers to accessing dental care, as VA benefits often do not cover routine or preventative services. Free dental care for veterans helps bridge the critical gap, ensuring those who served receive the essential oral health care they need to maintain overall well-being. These services honor their service by providing compassionate, timely treatment without financial burden.

“Mission of Mercy is proud to collaborate with the American Legion and the Veterans Affairs to serve the dental needs of those who served our Country. Our mobile clinic model allows us to be on-site at the American Legion where we are confident that we will reach and serve significantly more veterans, furthering our mission to restore dignity, healing through Love,” said Jennifer White, Executive Director.

The dental clinic will provide fillings, extractions, and cleanings. Appointments can be made by calling 301-390-1314 or scanning the QR code.
