Gettysburg Civic Chorus Presents “America Sings” Concerts

The Gettysburg Civic Chorus, one of the oldest civic organizations, is now in its 63rd year of presenting its popular concerts for citizens in Adams County and surrounding areas. Its spring concerts will be held Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Middle School Auditorium, 37 Lefever Street, Gettysburg. The theme is “America Sings” and will feature songs such as: “An Americana Songbook;” “Elijah Rock;” “America;” “For Good;” “The Glory;” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy;” “For The Beauty of the Earth;” “God Bless America;” “Amazing Grace;” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” There is no admission and a free-will offering will be collected at intermission.

The Artistic Director for the Gettysburg Civic Chorus is Bill Serfass, and the Guest Director this semester and for these concerts is David Conklin. The accompanist is Esther Redding. Musicians for the concert include Dan White; Chris Barnaby; Bill Serfass; Dr. Laura Pennings; Carol Garman; Payton Small; David Wenerd; Deb Litten; Steven Marx; and Tom Jordan. Also featured will be “The Flute Flock of Gettysburg” with director Georgia Hollabaugh.

Soloists for the concert include Holly Fox; Leah Watson; Becky Adelmann; Stephanie Roelker; Jonathan Reck; James Hollabaugh; Eric Smith; Dave Reinecker; and Jessica Sheahan.

Members of the Civic Chorus Board leading the organization include Marisa Barra, President; Sue McCleaf Nespeca, Vice-President and Chorus Crier Communications; Mary Ann Remaley, Treasurer; Carol Coon, Secretary; Rosemary Bogden, Librarian; Grace Toms, Soprano Section Leader; Jessica Sheahan, Alto Section Leader; Jonathan Reck, Tenor Section Leader; Pat Naugle, Bass Section Leader; and Cindy McArdle, Webmaster.
