The Emmitsburg Gettysburg Ukraine Support Coalition thanks the area residents who helped make the coalition’s first fundraiser a huge success. The event, held May 15 at Gettysburg Rec Park, raised close to $3,000 to benefit war-ravaged Ukraine.

We thank the 60 residents of Emmitsburg and Gettysburg who attended and the volunteers who helped organize and set up the event. We are deeply grateful to those who donated food, drinks, baked goods, silent auction items, equipment, decorations and display items.

Special thanks go to Gettysburg Rec Park for offering the use of the Firemen’s Pavillion and assisting with set-up.

The need in Ukraine is great as the Eastern European country continues its fight for independence begun when Russia invaded in 2014. Local interest continues to grow in assisting Ukraine, and we hope to continue fundraising efforts in the future. If you wish to assist the coalition, please contact me at cathybodin34@gmail.com.
