Obituary: Blaine B. Lear

Blaine Baird Lear, 87, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in his home. He was born July 16, 1938, in Boiling Springs, PA, to the late Herbert and Margaret “Minnie” (Kepner) Lear. He was the widower of Peggy J. (Fry) Lear after 56 years of marriage, who passed away in November of 2015.

Blaine proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for various jobs, such as a truck driver for Pepsi Company in Newville, worked as an insurance agent for Prudential, and was employed for a short period of time at Carlisle Tire and Wheel. Blaine also worked for Omalley Wood Products. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Carlisle, the Eagles Aerie Post 1299 in Carlisle, and was a dedicated season ticket holder, always cheering on Penn State Football.

Surviving are his children, Randy B. Lear of Carlisle, Tracy M. Rupp (Jeffrey) of Mt. Holly Springs, and Kathy J. Baker (Jeremy) of Walnut Bottom; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Tracey Lear. In addition to his parents and wife, Blaine was preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Lear; siblings, Marlin Lear and Elizabeth Gardner.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the First United Church of Christ, 30 N Pitt Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Fa Lane officiating. A luncheon will follow services, and burial will take place at 2:00 PM in the Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
