Obituary: Thomas E. Kuykendall, Sr.

Thomas E. Kuykendall, Sr., 95, Fairfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Fairfield, PA, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 16, 1930, in Carroll County, MD, the son of the late Robert and Josephine Zewinsky Kuykendall. Tom was predeceased by his first wife, Mary A. Kuykendall. He is survived by his second wife, Fern Markey Kuykendall.

Tom was a member of Iron Springs Brethren in Christ Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War and was discharge in 1954, he then served in the Reserves until 1960. Tom was employed at GAF Grit Mill in Greenstone, PA, for many years as a foreman.

In addition to his wife he is survived by five children; Thomas E. Kuykendall, Jr. and his wife Tamra of Fairfield, PA, Gregory L. Kuykendall and his wife Kathy of Fairfield, PA, Karl J. Kuykendall and his wife Patty of Emmitsburg, MD, Wanda Craybill of Fairfield, PA, Jeffrey K. Kuykendall and his spouse Dean of Fairfield, PA, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Steven R. Kuykendall, and two sisters, Betty Stem and Mary Evans. He was predeceased by a son, Steven R. Kuykendall, and a grandson, Brian J. Kuykendall.

There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, PA, on Friday, June 19th, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, followed by prayers with Rev. Douglas Lichty. Private interment with full military honors will be in Fountaindale Cemetery.
