Reports continue to mount that pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are planning a star-studded wedding celebration at New York City’s Madison Square Garden over the Independence Day weekend, though neither has confirmed the plans.
According to multiple published reports, the couple has rented the iconic arena for three days, with festivities expected to begin July 2. The New York Times reported the celebration will include an intimate gathering of about 100 guests on July 2, followed by a larger event on July 3 that could feature stage appearances. Entertainment Weekly also reported details of the alleged plans.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani fueled speculation earlier by referring to the Swift-Kelce wedding as one of several major events expected in Manhattan during the holiday weekend.
Additional evidence has surfaced in the form of permit applications filed with the city. One application submitted by event planning firm Winick Productions seeks permission to erect a tent or canopy outside Madison Square Garden for an event with 500 to 999 attendees and includes provisions for truck loading and unloading of equipment.
Separate reports indicate another permit was filed to close streets surrounding the arena from July 2 through July 4 to accommodate the expected crowds and security needs. Amtrak police assigned to nearby Penn Station have also reportedly been notified about a major event involving the couple.
The New York Times reported that approximately 1,000 guests are expected, with invitations reportedly extended to celebrities including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, and the Haim sisters. The Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square is reportedly holding reservations for several members of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Adding to the speculation, associates of Swift have reportedly been seen at Rock Lititz, a Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, production campus known for preparing major live entertainment events.
Reports have estimated the rental cost for Madison Square Garden at roughly $1 million per day, allowing time for setup, the celebrations, and teardown.
Despite the growing body of circumstantial evidence, Swift’s representatives have not confirmed the wedding plans, and neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly announced a wedding date. A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to requests for comment, leaving the reported July Fourth weekend celebration unconfirmed.
