Rita Anne Vial Fahringer, 73, of Fairfield, PA, has gone to see her lord after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born November 24, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Charlie & Rita Vail. She was raised in Oceanside, NY, on Long Island.
As a child, she was very introverted. In 1980, she met Robert “Bob” Fahringer, and her life changed. Because of Bob’s consistent praise and caring, she had a newfound confidence in herself. Rita and Bob were married in 1986 and were blessed with 29 years of married bliss. It was rare you would see one of them without the other. A marriage truly blessed by God. If you met Bob, you could never forget him, as he had a smile that could light up a room. They both loved the Lord, and it showed in everything they did. Rita was very involved in her church, Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairfield, PA. She served on several committees and was honored to be the church’s Treasurer. The Lord blessed them in 2013 when he decided to help a friend in need. This friend, Dianne Barry, quickly became part of their family, and when Bob took ill with cancer, she was his caregiver 24/7. She promised Bob she would take care of Rita and has given 110% of herself to being there for her. They could not thank her enough for what she had done for them and what she has sacrificed in her life to help them.
Rita is survived by a brother, Charles R. “Richie” Vail and his wife Renie, nephew, Brandon Vail and his wife Sheri and their seven children, Kyle, Ryan, Keyra, Gracie, Adam, Seth and Rose and a niece, Keri Marrone and her son Danny, four step-children, Chris Wallace, Doug Fahringer, Wendy Hester and Joanne Aversa and Bob’s nephew, Chuck Pessolano and his wife Flo and their children, Ashley, Chelsie and C.J. Rita was predeceased by a brother, Michael Vail.
A special thank you goes to the Lorden family, Dianne’s father, Larry, her sisters, Kathy, Cheri and Karen, and her brother, Kenny. They accepted her into their family and treated her as one of their own. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. Interment will take place the following day, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 9:30 AM. Online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
