Obituary: Walter M. Wichrowski

Walter M. Wichrowski, 79, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 10, 1947, in Natrona Heights, PA, to the late Walter and Helen (Zakrzewski) Wichrowski.

Walter retired from PPG Industries with over 36 years of service. After retirement, he worked for the U.S. Army Carlisle Barracks Visitors Center at the frame shop as an engraver, serving for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Carlisle, Amvets Post 274 in Carlisle, VFW Post 477 in Carlisle, and the Masonic Lodge in Carlisle. Walter enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. He was a car enthusiast who owned his dream car, a 1999 Corvette. Through the years, he restored a 1947 Ford pickup truck and a VW Beetle. He loved watching all 3 of his grandsons play football, often having 2 games on the tv/computer at one time so he didn’t miss a thing. He also loved watching his granddaughter cheer for Carlisle.

Surviving is his loving wife of almost 57 years, Camille Wichrowski of Boiling Springs, PA; Children, Michele Lysick of Bethlehem, PA, Michael Wichrowski (Michelle Sommer) of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Kristen Trolinger (Brian) of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren, Justin, Jenna and Matthew Trolinger and Brandon Lysick; and Walter’s sister, Darlene Gloria of Virginia Beach, VA. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Wichrowski.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the St. Patrick Shrine Church, 152 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Donald Bender officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, and burial will take place at 2:00 PM in the St. Patrick Cemetery, 343 McClure’s Gap Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs. PA.
