Obituary: Jean Isabelle (Hykes) Day

Jean Isabelle (Hykes) Day, 11/17/1937-7/25/2026, daughter of the late Charles Hykes and Pearl (Golden) Hykes, widow of John Philip Day, passed peacefully in her daughter’s home.

Jean preferred to live a simple life, enjoying long walks, gardening, reading, and various volunteer efforts. Her one indulgence was travel, which began with camping trips with her family. Eventually her travels took her to all 50 states, many multiple times. Her first international trip took her to Spain, and then later she traveled to many other countries. Highlights of her travels included kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, taking a hot air balloon ride over Kenya, and walking on the Great Wall of China.
