Families are invited to pack their blankets and lawn chairs and head to the borough park Friday evening for Arendtsville’s first Movie Night in the Park, hosted by Mayor April Jones.
The free community event will feature the Disney-Pixar favorite “Monsters, Inc.” on a large outdoor screen beginning at dusk. Admission is free for the movie, which will be shown in the park area located at 2 South High Street.
The evening gets underway well before showtime, with food trucks opening at 3 p.m. and serving throughout the evening. Organizers are encouraging residents to arrive early to enjoy dinner, spend time with neighbors and take part in activities planned for children before the movie begins.
“We can’t wait to enjoy this night with you,” Jones said in announcing the event. “We have fun stuff planned for the kids. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Enjoy dinner and a movie.”
Featured food vendors include Jem’s Joint and Ahhh Re-FRESH-ing LLC, with additional food specials also available.
Because parking at the park is limited, visitors are encouraged to use nearby parking areas and walk to the event. Recommended parking locations include Trinity Church on North High Street, across from the church, and the Mount Zion Church lot behind the Arendtsville Mini Mart on Gettysburg Street. A limited number of parking spaces will also be available near the food trucks and across the road at Hanne Park.
The family-friendly evening is designed to give residents an opportunity to gather outdoors, enjoy local food vendors and spend time together in the borough’s park.
