Sally J. Gateley of Fairfield, PA, formerly of Hyattsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026.
Sally retired from the University of Maryland, where she was a buyer, after 27 years. After that, she started her own business as a print broker. Retiring again, she moved to Fairfield, PA, with her longtime friends to enjoy her favorite sport, golf, and to cheer on the Redskins.
Sally was a truly super individual, warm, outgoing, generous, and caring person who was a joy to be around.
She lived with her lifelong friend, Carol Mattingly, for 60 years, and leaves Carol and her family and nephew Gregory Gateley of Nashville, Tenn., along with a multitude of friends. She will be sorely missed by all.
A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, PA, at 1:30 PM with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
