After a brief break from the heat, South Central Pennsylvania is expected to endure another stretch of hot weather beginning Tuesday, with temperatures climbing into the 90s and remaining there through much of the workweek.

The hottest days are expected to be Wednesday and Thursday, when afternoon highs could reach the upper 90s. Forecasters say temperatures may approach the record high for Wednesday, 99 degrees, set in 2024.

Despite the high temperatures, humidity levels are expected to remain somewhat lower than during recent heat waves. Dew points are forecast to stay below 70 degrees, resulting in what meteorologists often describe as a “dry heat.” While the air will still feel warm, it should be less oppressive than periods of high humidity.

Rain chances are expected to remain minimal through Friday, with mostly sunny skies allowing temperatures to climb each afternoon.

The pattern may begin to change as the weekend approaches. Forecasters say a weather system moving toward Pennsylvania could trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms on Friday or during the weekend, although the timing and coverage remain uncertain several days in advance.

As always, take precautions during the hottest part of the day by drinking plenty of water, limiting strenuous outdoor activity, wearing lightweight clothing and checking on older adults and others who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illness.
