Two Unique Experiences Take the Stage This August at Totem Pole Playhouse

August is bringing something for every kind of live entertainment fan at Totem Pole Playhouse. Whether you’re looking for a beloved Broadway classic or an afternoon or evening of nostalgic pop hits, Totem Pole offers two unforgettable experiences this month.

Currently on stage through August 16, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific continues to captivate audiences with one of the most celebrated scores in musical theatre history. Featuring a talented cast of Broadway, national tour, and regional performers alongside a live orchestra, the production brings timeless songs including Some Enchanted Evening, Bali Ha’i, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair, and Younger Than Springtime to life.

Set on a South Pacific island during World War II, the Tony Award-winning musical tells a moving story of love, hope, courage, and acceptance. More than 75 years after its Broadway premiere, South Pacific remains one of the most beloved musicals ever written.

“One of the things that makes Totem Pole Playhouse special is the variety of experiences we offer throughout the season,” said Totem Pole Playhouse leadership. “Whether you’re a lifelong theatre lover or simply looking for a memorable summer outing, there’s truly something for everyone.”

Then, on Monday, August 18, Totem Pole shifts gears with The Boy Band Project, part of the Playhouse’s popular Tucked Away Treasures series.

Featuring a cast of Broadway performers and powerhouse vocalists, The Boy Band Project celebrates the greatest hits of the boy band era—from The Temptations and New Kids on the Block to NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, One Direction, and more.

Blending concert-level vocals with polished choreography and theatrical energy, the show offers audiences a fun-filled evening of nostalgia and crowd-favorite hits. Whether you grew up with Motown harmonies or the pop explosion of the ’90s and 2000s, The Boy Band Project promises an interactive concert experience filled with songs audiences know by heart.

Like all events in the Tucked Away Treasures series, The Boy Band Project offers a unique, one-of-a-kind experience in the intimate setting of Totem Pole Playhouse.

“From Broadway classics to live concerts, we’re proud to offer programming that reaches a wide variety of audiences,” said Totem Pole leadership. “Professional entertainment doesn’t require a trip to New York, Baltimore, or Washington. It’s happening right here in Central Pennsylvania.”

Tickets for both productions are available now.
