Healthy Adams County event offers guidance for end-of-life planning

Healthy Adams County’s End of Life Committee will host a free event in September designed to provide information and resources for individuals and families planning for later stages of life.

“Planning with Purpose and Care” will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nicarry Meetinghouse, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford.

The event will bring together information on a variety of topics that families often face when preparing for aging, serious illness and end-of-life decisions.

Resources will include creating advance directives and living wills, pre-planning funeral and burial arrangements, estate and financial planning, home care and nursing options, hospice and palliative care services, grief support for families, and non-medical and community resources.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome and an opportunity to visit resource tables. A presentation on funeral planning is scheduled from 10 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Medicare presentation from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m.

Lunch will be served from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. A financial and legal presentation will follow from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with a care panel scheduled from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.

A light lunch is included, and door prizes will also be offered.

Organizers say the program is intended to provide resources, guidance and support for people and their families as they consider decisions that can sometimes be difficult to address in advance.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or calling 717-624-5272.

The event is sponsored by the End of Life Committee, an affiliate of Healthy Adams County.
