Obituary: Virginia V. Crouse

Virginia Viola Crouse, 88, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away at Genesis Gettysburg Center on Monday, August 24, 2026, after a long illness.

Born March 5, 1938, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Frederick & Viola (Kennell) Green. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Tim F. Crouse, who died in 2024. She was a school bus driver in the Gettysburg School District for more than 25 years.

Virginia enjoyed her family, especially watching her grandchildren grow and mature. She spent her spare time gardening, canning, and crocheting, along with cryptogram puzzles.

Virginia is survived by her six children, Shelly Riley, Anita Shull, Brian Crouse and Quint Crouse, all of Gettysburg; Scott Crouse of Orrtanna, PA; and Jolene Breighner of Fayetteville, PA; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Crouse, and four siblings, Thelma Baxter, Robert Green, Harold Green, and James Green.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greenmount Firehall, 3095 Emmitsburg Rd, Gettysburg, on September 26 at 4 PM. The Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements. Online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
