Obituary: Dale Owen Dolly

Dale Owen Dolly, 91, of Fairfield, PA, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Born May 21, 1935, in Fairfield, he was the son of the late Russell Lowell & Sadie (Jones) Dolly. Dale is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Lynn (Swayze) Dolly.

Dale was the youngest of four sons who grew up on the family farm in Fairfield. He was a 1953 graduate of Gettysburg High School. Dale had worked for the Gettysburg Agway for thirty-five years, along with working on the family farm, which he enjoyed.

He was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, PA. Dale was a true family man, enjoying gatherings with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had a special love of nature, his cats, and tending to his large garden.

In addition to his wife Lynn, he is survived by four children, Anne A. Jacquay (Pierre) of Fremont, IN, Scot D. Dolly (Suzanne) of Hanover, PA, Mark L. Dolly (Luanne Greene) of Albuquerque, NM, and Gale V. Dolly (Tom Griffin) of New Oxford, PA, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Dale was predeceased by a son, Dale O. Dolly, Jr., granddaughter, Lauren E. Dolly, and his three brothers, Jack, Gene, and Neil Dolly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Rev. Christopher Frye officiating.
