The votes are in, and the results are as sweet as expected: Mr. G’s has won the gold medal in Gettysburg Connection’s summer ice cream contest, with Half Pint Creamery’s Gettysburg location earning silver and Kilwins in Gettysburg taking bronze.

Gold medalist Mr. G’s, at 404 Baltimore St., serves homemade ice cream, soft serve, milkshakes and sundaes at the historic Twin Sycamores house. Owners Marc and Megan McLean continue a business tradition that began in 1997. The shop has occupied its current location since 2011, offering customers a place to enjoy their ice cream beneath the branches of a sycamore witness tree.
Silver medalist Half Pint Creamery offers homemade, hand-dipped ice cream, with a rotating selection of flavors alongside classic favorites. Its Gettysburg shop has recently moved to 1153 Biglerville Road, where customers will find indoor and outdoor seating and parking. The creamery also offers ice cream cakes, sandwiches and cupcakes.
Bronze medalist Kilwins, at 37 Steinwehr Ave., pairs its Original Recipe Ice Cream with an assortment of sweets. Customers can also choose from handmade fudge, chocolates, truffles and chocolate-covered treats, making the shop a stop for both a scoop to enjoy while strolling through Gettysburg and a box of sweets to take home.
