Martha E. Harbaugh-Laman, 88, of Gettysburg, PA, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1938, in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Carl) Fissel, Sr. Her husband of 43 years, Jackie L. Harbaugh, Sr., passed away in 1997. She is survived by her second husband of 24 years, Dennis J. Laman.
Martha held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including factory work and registration host at a number of campgrounds, including Drummer Boy Campground. For 39 years, she provided daycare services in her home, with many of those families continuing to visit her even after the children were grown. At the time of her retirement, she was employed at the Gettysburg Area School District as part of the cafeteria staff, interacting with the students and bringing fulfillment to her workdays. Martha enjoyed collecting music boxes and was an avid yard sale shopper, always in search of a treasure. She loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to visits from her children, a plentiful supply of snacks at the ready. Her grandchildren, including the greats and great-greats, brought joy and unfiltered love to her last years. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-great-granddaughter in January. Martha was a woman of strong faith, a faith passed on to her by her parents. She attended Gettysburg Foursquare for many years and was a cherished member of Heritage Assembly of God at the time of her passing. She looked forward to the day she would be home with her Savior, and a joyful reunion with loved ones that went before.
In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by five children; Jack Harbaugh, Jr and his wife Becky of Gettysburg, PA, Mark Harbaugh and his fiancée Tracey Black of Gettysburg, PA, James “Jamie” Harbaugh and his wife Sandy of Gettysburg, PA, Amber Harbaugh of Gettysburg, PA, April Glass and her husband Bud of Gettysburg, PA, five grandchildren; Heather Harbaugh and her husband Drew, Stephanie Fleischman and her husband Tim, Joann Riley and her husband Bobby, Ashleigh Kramer and her husband Paul, Rocky Glass and his wife Allison, six great grandchildren; Meghan Dobben and her husband Justin, Tyler Wilt and his wife Sydney, Payton Klinefelter, Janelle Riley, Cole Kramer and Cameron Kramer, Jax Glass and Harlee Glass, and two great great grandchildren; Lucas Dobben and Linden Dobben. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Freda Harbaugh.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 2pm at Heritage Assembly of God Church, Gettysburg, PA, with her pastor, Todd McCauslin, officiating. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
